Neurologic Movement Disorders Fellowship Open for Applicants for 2025-2026

The Neurologic Movement Disorders physical therapy fellowship is a 12-month program currently anticipating accreditation through the American Board of Physical Therapy Residency and Fellowship Education (ABPTRFE). This fellowship is a joint venture between The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center in Columbus, Ohio and Norton Healthcare in Louisville, Kentucky, with support from The Ohio State University School of Health and Rehabilitation Sciences and Bellarmine University School of Movement and Rehabilitation Sciences. The fellowship aims to develop subspecialist physical therapists to address the unique symptomatology, and complex healthcare needs for patients with conditions including but not limited to Parkinson’s disease and parkinsonism, dystonia, chorea and Huntington’s disease, ataxic syndromes, tremor and essential tremor, tics and Tourette syndrome.

Program Design

Duration: 12 months: February-January 2025-2026

Curriculum: Didactic learning modules guided clinical mentorship, participation in scholarly and community projects, teaching experiences within the respective PT programs, and additional observational and active learning experiences in movement disorder neurology.

Program Eligibility:

Be eligible for physical therapy licensure in the state of Ohio or Kentucky based on the onsite location selected.

Have successfully completed an accredited neurologic or geriatric residency program and/or a current specialist certification from the ABPTS in neurologic or geriatric physical therapy.
